Through his ahead of the curve track selection and technical ability, Jon1st has quickly built a reputation as a ‘DJ’s DJ’. His club sets see him effortlessly blend together influences from across the alternative electronic music spectrum, incorporating breath taking technical skills developed through his background as a World-DMC-title-winning turntablist while keeping the dance floor moving.

Alongside a busy touring schedule, which has seen him recently perform across Europe, North America and Asia, Jon’s sets have recently caught the attention of drum and bass/half time beats supergroup Ivy Lab, who have swiftly made him a resident at their 20/20LDN club nights in London and around Europe where he has had played alongside many of the scene’s leading producers.

He also holds down a monthly podcast with Liverpool based label Fly High Society and his studio mixes have been featured on established platforms such as Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel, Boiler Room, Rinse FM, Kutmah’s Sketchbook Radio, Serato’s Seratocast, Noisey, Hyponik, DJ Mag, NTS, DJsounds, Radar Radio and Foreign Beggars’ Par Excellence Radio Show.

In addition, his turntablist skills have recently seen him collaborate on productions and live routines with fellow 20/20 artist Shield - a project that will develop into a live show in 2019. Jon has also previously been invited to perform official scratch refixes of Ivy Lab, Alix Perez, Om Unit, Halogenix, Moresounds, Kabuki, NameBrandSound, DJ Vadim and Sam Binga. He was also recently hand picked by Beardyman to perform in his Dream Team project, where Jon performs alongside a group of world-class musicians, improvising a new full unplanned album at every performance. He has also recently provided scratches for releases by JD Reid, Mosca (NotSoMuch), Silent Dust & Kaelin Ellis (None60) and Savvy.

As a producer, he has recently released collaborative projects with Shield, EAN, DJ Craze, DJ Mad,, Tehbis, Benny Roach and GOALS (alongside Will LV and EAN) - receiving DJ and radio support from household names like Om Unit, DJ Craze, Gilles Peterson, Ivy Lab, Fracture, Tim Parker, Reso, Jonny Dub, Kromestar, Kabuki, BBC 6 Music, Rinse FM and NTS.

Jon1st killed it: the best DJ I’ve seen play for ages, and I’ve played with everyone from Diplo, Duck Sauce, Grandmaster Flash, Rev Run, Z-Trip, Craze, Madlib, Just Blaze, Premier, Skream, Bassnectar, Lil Louis Vega, Ali Shaheed Muhamed, Laurent Garnier, Shadow, Flying Lotus, Mary Ann Hobbs, Gilles Peterson...Jon is sick on the decks. He smashed it! One of the best nights out for ages.

I think it’s very important to give props where they are due and recognise when someone raises the bar. Jon1st’s 2013 DMC routine is one of the most exciting battle routines i’ve seen in perhaps the last 10 years. Meticulous attention to detail, great variety of technique, dope musical choice: a creative and tasteful use of technology and FUNK.
